As a long-time fan of Pixar and Toy Story, I wholeheartedly agree with Quentin Tarantino‘s sentiments about Toy Story 4. Having grown up with Andy and his toy friends, I felt that Toy Story 3 provided a poignant and satisfying conclusion to the saga. The idea of revisiting this world seemed unnecessary, especially after such a perfect ending.
It’s quite typical for a trilogy to be extended into additional films, and that seems to be the case with Toy Story as well, even though Pixar might not have initially requested a fourth installment. The creative team behind it found an idea they couldn’t resist pursuing. On the other hand, Quentin Tarantino, being a fan of the Toy Story series, articulates his reasons for choosing not to watch Toy Story 4.
After three films, Toy Story concluded beautifully. Instead of going to college with Andy, Woody decides to stay with his toy friends and their new owner, Bonnie. Since Toy Story 3 wrapped things up so neatly, Quentin Tarantino stated on the comedy podcast Club Random with Bill Maher (via Deadline) that he has no plans to watch Toy Story 4.
Quentin Tarantino, director of Pulp Fiction, praised Toy Story 3 by stating that it’s an exceptional film, one of his all-time favorites. He added that if you’ve watched the previous two movies, Toy Story 3 is heart-wrenching. However, he expressed no interest in watching the fourth installment, as he felt the story was concluded beautifully and perfectly. Even if it turns out to be excellent, he has moved on from the series.
Quentin Tarantino, the director of “Reservoir Dogs,” believes that Sergio Leone’s Dollars trilogy featuring Clint Eastwood is an ideal trilogy. He attributes the trilogy’s success to the fact that it was brought to life by a single director’s vision.
What do we know about Toy Story 5?
As a die-hard gaming fan, I’ve got some exciting news to share! Disney has been in touch with Tim Allen and Tom Hanks about reprising their legendary toy characters. While we haven’t heard anything official yet, it seems like Buzz, Woody, Jessie, Rex, Forky, and Hamm are all set to return for Toy Story 5. The original writer, Andrew Stanton, is stepping up as the director this time around, bringing a fresh perspective to the series! Can’t wait to see what adventures await our favorite toys in their next big adventure!
In summary, Toy Story 4 saw Buzz Lightyear and Woody going separate ways. Buzz and his gang remain with Bonnie, while Woody and Bo Peep embark on a mission to help other toys find new homes. At the D23 Expo, it was announced that Toy Story 5 will focus on the toys encountering a new adversary – technology. Previews show the toys looking melancholic as their owner is engrossed in their tablet. Given how quickly technology evolves today, this upcoming animated film promises to resonate with current audiences.
Given that Quentin Tarantino has no intention of seeing Toy Story 4, it’s likely he won’t be adding the fifth film to his viewing list either. However, with each installment breaking box office records and receiving countless positive reviews, I suspect the fifth movie will continue this trend when it releases in June 2026.
