Warner Bros. has officially revealed when the Queer film from A24, a period romance drama featuring Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey, will be released on Max. Craig’s portrayal of William Lee in this movie garnered him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor. At the upcoming 2025 SAG Awards, he is currently nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role.
1940s Mexico City serves as the backdrop for this story, where we find William Lee, a man on the run from a drug bust in New Orleans. In Mexico City, he wanders through the city’s vibrant nightclubs and develops an affection for Eugene Allerton, a former American Navy serviceman who struggles with drug use.
When is the Queer Max release date?
Starting this coming Friday, March 28th, you can stream “Queer” only on Max. The next day, on March 29th, it will make its television debut on HBO. During its time in theaters, the movie garnered a 77% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
As a gamer, I’d put it like this: “I recently learned that ‘Queer’ is a movie helmed by Luca Guadagnino, who brilliantly directed and produced it from Justin Kuritzkes’ screenplay, inspired by William S. Burroughs’ 1985 novel of the same name. This film boasts an impressive cast including Jason Schwartzman, Lesley Manville, Henry Zaga, Drew Droege, Ariel Schulman, Colin Bates, Omar Apollo, Ronia Ava, and others. Lorenzo Mieli was the producer, while Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross graced it with their exceptional score.
Following his work on Queer, Guadagnino is currently engaged in another high-profile production, a thriller film titled After the Hunt. This project will feature an impressive ensemble cast that includes Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Chloe Sevigny. In the meantime, Craig can be expected to appear next in Netflix’s Wake Up Dead Man: An Adventure of Knives Out, where he will once again take on the role of detective Benoit Blanc. Lastly, Starkey has recently reprised his character, Rafe Cameron, in the latest season of Netflix’s Outer Banks series.
