BGMI Enters As The Successor Of PUBG Mobile
Approximately ten months following the closure of PUBG Mobile in India, it was revealed that Battlegrounds Mobile India, or BGMI for short, would take over as its replacement.
In just a short time, the game gained immense popularity amongst Indians, amassing over 130 million downloads in June 2022. BGMI became India’s most favored battle royale game, but unfortunately, its past raised concerns within the Indian government.
Since BGMI is essentially the same game as PUBG Mobile with a new name, the Indian government had past concerns about potential issues and chose to ban it. They stated their reason as being that BGMI gathers sensitive data such as location, audio recordings, and access to other important information which could be misused.
On the 28th of July, 2022, efforts from Krafton and public worries couldn’t prevent the ban on Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) in India. Yet, a trial version of the game was made available once more in May, 2023.
Will PUBG Mobile Get Unbanned In India?
