PS5 games keep releasing before Xbox due to Microsoft communication failures

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say, the current state of affairs between Xbox and its developers is as puzzling as a Rubik’s cube with all sides the same color. The trend of PS5 games launching ahead of their Xbox counterparts is not just concerning; it’s downright perplexing!

Due to problems Microsoft is facing, Xbox game developers are struggling, leading to a situation where more games are being launched first on the PlayStation 5, ahead of its competitor, the Xbox Series X, which has not yet announced a release date.

For several months now, independent game developers have reported communication problems with Microsoft, leading to significant delays in bringing their games to the Xbox platform. In contrast, these developers seem to encounter no such issues when releasing games on Sony’s PlayStation console.

Why are PS5 games launching before Xbox?

Jyamma Games’ upcoming Dark Souls-style action RPG titled Enotria: The Last Song was initially planned for a simultaneous release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series platforms. But, the developer has now disclosed that the game will debut first on PC and PlayStation, with an Xbox release to follow at a later date.

Although Jyamma Games had prepared a game build for Xbox players, they’ve had to postpone the release for Series X and S because of unclear communication from Microsoft.

Upon hearing the unspecified postponement of the game, some Xbox enthusiasts quickly alleged that the developer was secretly working for Sony.

As a developer, I’m here to share some insider info with you, fellow gamers. Sony has been incredibly cooperative, working closely with us to ensure our game is perfectly tailored for their platform. On the flip side, Microsoft seems to be taking their sweet time; it’s been two months since we submitted our game for both Series S and X, and we’re raring to go!

A bad trend

It’s regrettably common that games not classified as AAA titles on Xbox have been facing this issue lately. For instance, the indie platformer HAAK, playable on various platforms, has recently decided to scrap its planned release on Xbox entirely.

Once more, the developer pointed out issues with Microsoft’s communication and glitches in its Game Submission Center, a platform used by developers for submitting their creations.

The developer shared that if not for the complex process of “applying for game publication” and “completing Microsoft Partner identity registration”, porting our game to Xbox would have only required about two weeks. However, this process took over 14 months, leaving us feeling frustrated as we could sense the excitement from the Xbox community.

It appears that some questionable events might be unfolding backstage at Xbox. Notably, many major exclusives are later released for the PS5, while independent games struggle to debut on Xbox without a convincing explanation. This situation is leaving Xbox gamers feeling neglected and confused about the reasons behind these developments.
