Looking at the lineup, it’s clear that some fantastic games are leaving Extra and Premium subscription services soon. With these confirmed departures, many fellow gamers on Reddit seem less than thrilled about the changes.
The initial criticism revolves around Sony’s decision to remove first-party games like InFamous Second Son and the Resistance series from their subscription service, PS Plus. A user expressed their thoughts by saying, “Since these are games owned by Sony, it essentially costs them nothing to keep them on PS+.
One issue that’s causing concern is the removal of various VR games from the collection. With the existing selection of games for the PSVR2 already being relatively small, the thought of losing multiple VR2 titles simultaneously feels like a harsh blow, almost as if one has been hit unexpectedly.
It’s not hard to understand why some people are frustrated: Twenty-two games are departing from Extra and Premium, while we can expect just eight or so new ones in May. To conclude, some dissatisfaction arises from the price hike of PS Plus, with many finding its worth diminished compared to Xbox Game Pass. This contrast is particularly harsh at present, as while Sony’s subscribers may enjoy day-one releases, Microsoft subscribers have recently received two massive titles: a remastered version of Oblivion and the critically acclaimed Clair Obscur Expedition 33, which currently holds the highest rating for games released in 2025.
Essential games from your current collection will be withdrawn on May 6th, whereas Extra and Premium offerings will follow on May 20th.
