As a long-time fan of both James Bond and IO Interactive’s work, particularly their Hitman series, hearing about Project 007 fills me with uncontainable excitement! The prospect of a new Bond game built specifically for gamers, with an original story and a potential trilogy within its own Bond universe, is simply too tantalizing to resist. I’ve been waiting for this moment since the announcement four years ago, and it seems that my patience is about to pay off!
IO Interactive unveiled their James Bond-themed game, “Project 007”, approximately four years ago. Although specifics about the upcoming title are still scarce, the CEO, Hakan Abrak, has lately provided some insights into how they plan to adapt the well-known spy series.
Project 007 features a new James Bond game built for gamers
In an interview with IGN, Abrak spoke about IO Interactive’s Project 007, which introduces a fresh James Bond character designed specifically for gamers. This upcoming game is set to unfold an entirely new story within the widely recognized IP. Abrak also expressed optimism that their project will ignite a significant trilogy within its own Bond series.
Abrak shared, “What makes that project thrilling is that we had the chance to create an entirely fresh narrative. It’s not a game adaptation of a movie; it’s a story that’s starting from scratch, potentially setting the stage for a future trilogy. Plus, this is a brand-new Bond character – one tailored specifically for gamers. The rich history and tradition associated with the Bond franchise make this collaboration even more exciting. We’re collectively shaping a young gamer’s Bond, a character that gamers can claim as their own and develop alongside.
Abrak adds, ‘I’d rather not overstate it, but I’m hoping we’ll develop something significant that will leave an enduring mark on James Bond games.’ He’s not referring to a single game, but to building a gaming universe that gamers can claim as their own for many years. This universe can evolve alongside the Bond films.
Abraham confidently states that the manufacturing process is progressing exceptionally smoothly. He’s eager to disclose additional information, but for now, they are sticking to their strategy, and he will reveal more once they are prepared to do so.
Abrak mentions, “There’s no news to share today, but trust me, I can hardly wait to discuss it soon. In the meantime, we are moving forward with our plans.” The production is progressing wonderfully, and we will be revealing more details about it shortly. Although I didn’t give much information this time, there are many exciting things on the horizon. We are also very eager, and when we are ready to share, we will do so.
It’s quite fitting that IO Interactive is developing a James Bond game, given their expertise in the Hitman series. For those eager to witness what Project 007 might bring, it would be beneficial to explore Hitman: World of Assassination, a compilation that encompasses the entirety of the latest trilogy.
