Recently, producer Naga Vamsi of Lucky Baskar made news following a lively discussion with Boney Kapoor on Galatta Plus. His opinions about Bollywood films sparked online debates, prompting him to clear up any misunderstandings about his original statement.
During an interview with Telugu 3000, a well-known Telugu producer expressed that he holds no grudge against Boney Kapoor or Bollywood. To clarify, Naga Vamsi added, “If my words were perceived as disrespectful towards Boney, I apologize. I never intended to disrespect anyone, particularly the film industry of Bollywood. As a resident of the South, I am simply proud of the accomplishments we’ve made in cinema production since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking passionately about his admiration for Bollywood stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, and Deepika Padukone, the producer asserted that renowned director Karan Johar served as his primary inspiration. He further elaborated, “Karan Johar has been my driving force behind entering the film industry; no other Telugu director has inspired me this much. After watching Kuch Kuch Hota Hain, I decided that one day I would create a visually stunning film just like it.
Regarding the interview, Vamsi elaborated that his actions and speech were closely scrutinized by online viewers. Yet, the producer asserted that following the interview, both he and Boney Kapoor remained unperturbed.
The producer noted that several movies like RRR, Baahubali, Kantara, Animal, and Jawan, which are all directed by Southern filmmakers, have achieved notable performances. He emphasized that his statement was simply acknowledging their success, not boasting about it.
It’s worth noting that Naga Vamsi has faced criticism following his comments during a recent interview with Boney Kapoor. In this conversation, he stated, “South Indians have shifted Bollywood’s perspective on cinema, as you Northern filmmakers were limited to producing films for audiences in Bandra and Juhu only.” This statement sparked a lively debate between the two producers.
