Prithviraj Sukumaran is excitedly counting down the days until the premiere of his movie titled L2: Empuraan, which features Mohanlal as the main character. In anticipation of its release, the actor has recently given a sneak peek into his upcoming film where he will be taking on the leading role.
Stepping onto my Instagram platform, I, as a devoted follower, proudly shared the news that we’ve wrapped up the filming for Vilayath Buddha after a two-year journey. In the spirit of transparency, I also reminisced about the accident that occurred during its production and penned down my thoughts:
After approximately 2 years, an injured ACL, a torn meniscus, and some reconstructed cartilage, the journey of #VILAYATHBUDDHA concludes for Double Mohanan. It’s been a unique experience that entailed far more than just physical challenges!

In case you didn’t know, Prithviraj Sukumaran experienced an accident while filming Vilayath Buddha in 2023. This incident happened during the shooting of an action scene at Marayoor. After the accident, he underwent keyhole surgery and had to spend several months bedridden.
The film “Vilayath Buddha” is directed by Jayan Nambiar and is adapted from a book of the same title. This book was written by G.R. Indugopan, who also collaborated with Rajesh Pinnadan on the screenplay for the movie.
In the future, starting from March 27, 2025, Prithviraj Sukumaran will make his return to the silver screen with the long-anticipated sequel movie titled L2: Empuraan. This film, which he is also directing, features him as a significant character alongside Mohanlal.
The upcoming movie, classified as an action thriller, serves as the follow-up to 2019’s Lucifer and represents the second part of a three-part series. Unlike its predecessor, which primarily focused on the character Stephen Nedumpally, also known as Khureshi-Abraam and his connections with an anonymous crime syndicate, this new installment is expected to explore the broader world and reveal more about the characters’ pasts, delving into the consequences of their actions.
In addition to Mohanlal and Prithviraj, other notable actors like Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, and Saniya Iyappan were also part of significant roles in the film. There were several others as well.
