Preview of NYC's Only Murders in the Building Escape Room

As a dedicated fan of the hit Hulu series “Only Murders in the Building,” I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming escape room experience! Having binge-watched this whodunnit comedy multiple times, I’m eager to immerse myself even deeper into the world of Charles, Oliver, and Mabel.

Get ready for Easter Egg finds, cameras tracking your actions, brain-teasing puzzles, secret stashes, and more! The debut of New York’s first “Only Murders in the Building” Escape Room is happening on August 30th, with a return to the same Los Angeles location during the next weekend. Here’s a sneak peek at New York’s inaugural “Only Murders in the Building” Escape Room.

Stepping outdoors, I spot a gleaming building in Midtown Manhattan, its windows reflecting city life. A captivating banner for the official “Only Murders in the Building” Escape Room Game catches my eye. Descending the staircase, my gaze locks onto a poster framed by circular green and golden yellow trimmings. The words “Only Murders in the Building Escape Room” are neatly etched on its black edges, beckoning me to enter.

In a snug square chamber adorned with an emerald-hued wallpaper featuring character vignettes from the series, the immersive game design might easily captivate players, drawing their gazes around the room. This interactive experience is designed for only eight participants, under constant observation by surveillance cameras. A ticking clock, counting down for an hour, adds urgency to the task of unraveling the mystery at hand.

In the initial room we discuss, you’ll discover intriguing character sketches with five to eight people working together to gather game-advancing hints. Adjacent to this room, once a player solves the puzzle to unlock it, they will be magically whisked away into the opulent apartment belonging to Charles Savage, a character from the Hulu comedy series ‘Only Murders in the Building’.

Upon stepping into Charles’ room, gamers will find items from the show tailored for the game, like the yogurt connection hinting at a previous Scrabble game with words connected to the plot of season 4, as well as a murder board displaying a timeline for the upcoming season’s narrative.

Players will be captivated by the fully-decorated, fictional representation of the Upper West Side apartment complex, known as both The Arconia and The Belnord in New York City. This game corresponds with season 4, where each participant will either team up with others or work independently to locate the missing film reel.

On August 30th and for a short period after that, Hulu and The Escape Game will whisk New York residents into the captivating world of the true-crime podcast trio – Charles, Oliver, Mabel, and their cohorts, offering an exclusive experience you won’t want to miss.
