Presumed Innocent Season 2 Finds New Female Lead Replacing Jake Gyllenhaal

Apple TV+ has recently recruited a fresh lead actor for the second season of “Presumed Innocent.” Previously, Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal played the central role of a prosecutor suspected of murdering a coworker in the series’ debut installment.

Who is joining Presumed Innocent Season 2?

Rachel Brosnahan, who won an Emmy, has officially agreed to star in the main role for the upcoming series of Apple TV+’s popular legal drama. Notably, she will also take on the role of executive producer. This new project signifies her return to television following a two-year hiatus since the end of Prime Video’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which wrapped up its five-season run. Additionally, Brosnahan is slated to appear as the latest live-action Lois Lane in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film.

Next year, I’m super excited that Presumed Innocent Season 2 will be based on Jo Murray’s upcoming novel Dissection of a Murder, due out in 2026. The story revolves around me, a young lawyer, stepping up to defend an accused killer – a notorious case involving the murder of a highly esteemed judge. This gripping tale is being brought to life by executive producers David E. Kelley and Erica Lipez. Although I won’t be in front of the camera this time around, I’m still part of the team as an executive producer alongside J.J. Abrams, Rachel Rusch Rich, Matthew Tinker, Dustin Thomason, and Scott Turow. The countdown is on!

Initially, this production was inspired by Turrow’s 1987 book. The talented ensemble featured Ruth Negga, Bill Camp, Elizabeth Marvel, Renate Reinsve, Peter Sarsgaard, O-T Fagbenle, Chase Infiniti, Nana Mensah, Kingston Rumi Southwick, Matthew Alan, and Lily Rabe. Prior to its Apple TV+ presentation, the novel was previously transformed into a film in 1990 with Harrison Ford portraying Rusty Sabich. Currently, it boasts an impressive 79% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, labeled as ‘Certified Fresh’.
