As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I’ve watched Illfonic evolve from a promising indie studio to a household name in the multiplayer genre. From Nexuiz in 2012 to Friday the 13th, Predator: Hunting Grounds, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, and their latest release Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game, Illfonic has consistently delivered quality experiences that have kept me coming back for more.
The game developers behind “The Predator: Hunting Grounds” and “Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed,” known as Illfonic, have announced job cuts recently. They released an official statement about this issue today.
Illfonic CEO & Co-Founder issues statement regarding layoffs
Charles Brungardt, CEO and co-founder of Illfonic, wrote and posted an update on platform X (previously known as Twitter).
As a gamer, I’d put it like this: “I’ve got some tough news to share today. The gaming industry has taken its toll on us here at Illfonic, and with a heavy heart, I must inform you that adjustments to our teams were necessary. We’re realigning our strategy for the future.
Brungardt concludes his statement, inviting anyone seeking top-notch developers to get in touch, as he’s ready to connect them with individuals who have recently been let go from their jobs. Here is the complete statement for your reference:
An update from IllFonic.

Illfonic’s debut game was 2012’s Nexuiz back in the year 2012. Yet, it wasn’t until their 2017 asymmetrical survival horror game Friday the 13th that they gained significant popularity. This breakthrough paved the way for other licensed game projects within the specialized multiplayer genre. These included Predator: Hunting Grounds, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, and Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game. Additionally, the studio created Dead Alliance and Arcadegeddon.
Illfonic provided assistance in the development of various titles such as Armored Warfare, Crysis 3, Evolve, Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, and Star Citizen.
The latest game release from our studio, titled “Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game”, hit the market earlier this year. Our critic, Tyler Treese, rated it 8.5. In essence, he recommends this game wholeheartedly if you’re a fan of the iconic cult movie. If you simply enjoy multiplayer horror games, he suggests that you should consider purchasing it too, as not only will you have a blast playing, but you’ll also discover a unique and underappreciated property that deserves more attention.
