For the fourth time, Prada Frames is back with the thought-provoking exhibit titled “In Transit“. This exhibit runs alongside Milan’s Salone del Mobile in 2025. The curation is handled by renowned design and research studio Formafantasma. Just like previous years, this event maintains the initiative’s aim to foster discussions between various disciplines at the junction of design, culture, and society.
2019’s topic, “On the Move,” delves into the impact of infrastructure on transportation – be it individuals, commodities, information, or energy. It examines how mobility is influenced by technological advancements, ecological issues, and social disparities. The display showcases the paradoxes in a world where items easily traverse borders yet people do not.
As a fervent admirer, I’m excited to share that our discussions will take place in two unique settings: the Padiglione Reale at Milan’s Central Station and onboard the refurbished 1950s Arlecchino train, masterfully created by Gio Ponti and Giulio Minoletti. These locations not only provide a stunning canvas for our dialogues but also serve as thought-provoking symbols – architectural landmarks that challenge the very systems of mobility and societal structure they once embodied.
An impressive array of speakers led by design critic Alice Rawsthorn will present at an event. Some of the participants include Paola Antonelli, Kate Crawford, Metahaven, Hito Steyerl, and Samia Henni, who will share diverse perspectives about the worldwide context of mobility and infrastructure, particularly hypermobility. The event titled “Prada Frames In Transit” is free to attend after registration starting March 31 on Prada’s official website, with admission granted based on availability.
