What is the Razakar movement?

Originally, the term “Razakars” denoted the volunteer militia and home guards from the princely state of Hyderabad. Their role was to safeguard the state during potential Indian invasions.

From November 1947 to August 1948, the Razakars became active following the Indian government’s persistent requests for the Nizam of Hyderabad to disband them. However, these demands were ignored, leading to an armed invasion by the Indian Army which was met with fierce resistance and counterattacks from the Razakars.

At NIT Warangal’s previous student event, Hanu Raghavapadi, the filmmaker, shared some intriguing details about his upcoming project with Prabhas. He assured that production was indeed underway, revealing that it would be a period action drama. Additionally, he hinted at an alternate history theme in the movie.
