As a die-hard Power Rangers fan who grew up with the original series, I can hardly contain my excitement for Digital Eclipse’s upcoming game, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind! The fact that they’re including the Green Ranger, one of the most iconic and beloved characters from the show, is just the cherry on top.

🌟Enjoy National Power Rangers Day! In honor of the occasion, Digital Eclipse has announced that a beloved Ranger will be unlockable in their upcoming retro-style game, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind.

Who is the unlockable fan favorite character in Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind?

Digital Eclipse has revealed on their official Twitter that the Green Ranger will be an unlockable character within Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind. The storyline of Tommy, the Green Ranger, is integrated into the game’s plot. Players can acquire this beloved character by progressing through the campaign.

Here is the official story description for the upcoming Digital Eclipse game:

In “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind”, the Power Rangers confront a robotic version of their age-old enemy, now known as Robo-Rita. To ensure her victory over the Power Rangers, Robo-Rita opens a portal to travel back in time and forge an alliance with her younger self, Rita Repulsa. They then manipulate, rearrange, and modify the past events in order to prevent the creation of the Power Rangers, thereby changing the direction of history itself.

During Summer Game Fest in June, it was unveiled that Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind is a side-scrolling beat ’em up game. This title offers both online and offline cooperative play, enabling players to choose their preferred Ranger from the original series. The game serves as a gaming anniversary tribute for Power Rangers, marking 30 years since its inception.

In the initial season (Season 1) of Power Rangers, the character known as the Green Ranger, played by Jason David Frank, made his debut. Out of all the Rangers, he starred in an impressive 236 episodes, more than any other. Sadly, Jason David Frank passed away in the year 2022.

2024 continues to be the planned launch year for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC gaming platforms.

In a twist, Digital Eclipse’s forthcoming side-scrolling brawler doesn’t mark the sole appearance of the Power Rangers in video games this year. Instead, that honor goes to Studio Wildcard and CurseForge, who introduced the franchise into Ark: Survival Ascended as early as June.
