As a lifelong fan of classic cartoons, I must say that the Shiver Me Timbers teaser trailer has me absolutely giddy with anticipation! Growing up, Popeye was always one of my favorites, and to see him reinvented in such an intriguing way is truly exciting. The 80s slasher references are a brilliant touch, adding a fresh twist to the beloved character while still paying homage to the genre.


Alpake Entertainment unveiled a sneak peek of their upcoming horror-comedy titled “Shiver Me Timbers“, reminiscent of the beloved Popeye animated series. The film was first showcased at the American Film Market in Las Vegas and is anticipated to hit cinemas early in 2025.

What happens in the Shiver Me Timbers teaser trailer?

The video showcases a fresh interpretation of the cherished cartoon character, initially conceived by E.C. Segar back in 1929. It promises an exciting blend of 80s slasher film homages and humorous twists, all while honoring the classic slasher movie genre.

This swashbuckling movie titled “Shiver Me Timbers” was created by the skillful hands of director Paul Mann. In the leading roles, we find Tony Greer and David Hallow taking on the iconic character of Popeye. Portraying Homeless George is Paul Dwedney, with Amy Mackie playing Olive, Leona Roberts as Lizzy, and Paul Stephen Mann stepping into Detective Zanaletto’s shoes. Additionally, the team includes Eric Zapata as producer, while Mann, Keith Montgomery, and Alastai Statha take on executive producing roles.

In the summer of 1986 in Northern California, Olive Oyl, her brother Castor, and their cinema-loving friends set out on an exciting camping trip to observe Halley’s Comet’s meteor shower. However, the tranquil evening of stargazing soon becomes a terrifying ordeal when one of these meteors transforms Popeye into a relentless and seemingly unstoppable force of destruction.
