As a die-hard fan of South cinema, I have been following the poll results with bated breath ever since TopMob announced the contest to determine the best South movie sequel of 2024. The suspense has finally been lifted, and the verdict is out! With an overwhelming 83% of votes cast in its favor, it’s none other than Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule that has stolen the hearts of netizens across the globe.
In a recent survey conducted by TopMob, avid readers were asked to cast their votes for the top-ranking South film sequel that debuted in 2024. The selection ranged from Pushpa 2, Indian 2, Yatra, Tillu Square, and Double iSmart. As soon as the poll went live, an overwhelming response ensued. Now, it’s time to unveil the winning sequel and learn which South movie has gained the most favor among netizens.
As per the poll findings, Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule garnered the majority of votes. In fact, it collected an impressive 83% of all votes cast. This suggests that online users believe Sukumar’s directorial work in Pushpa 2 is the standout South movie sequel of 2024.
Since its debut on December 5th, the movie has been breaking box office records left and right, eventually becoming the top-earning Indian film of 2024. It managed to outshine blockbusters such as Jawan, The GOAT, and many others in terms of ticket sales.
In the poll, the runner-up position was claimed by the movie titled “Tillu Square.” Featuring Siddu Jonnalagadda and Anupama Parameswaran, this film garnered approximately 9% of the total votes. Directed by Mallik Ram, Tillu Square proved to be a blockbuster at the box office. Notably, it’s the follow-up to DJ Tillu.
It turns out that Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 and Ram Pothineni’s Double iSmart garnered the same amount of interest from online viewers, each receiving 4% of the total votes. Despite their initial mixed reception upon release, neither film managed to live up to expectations. Given this, it was thought that these movies would receive the least number of votes in the poll.
Despite Mammootty and Jiiva’s Yatra being a strong contender, it ultimately fell behind, garnering just 3% of the votes. This film failed to meet expectations, not only during the voting period but also at the ticket counter.
Take a look at the poll below:
In the near future, TopMob plans to introduce additional polls, enabling readers to cast their votes for their preferred South Indian films. Keep an eye out for these exciting updates!
