The movie “Baasha” revolves around the life of Manikam, a simple auto-rickshaw driver residing in Chennai, who shares his home with his mother Vijayalakshmi, brother Shiva, and sisters Geetha and Kavitha.

As a devoted caretaker for my loved ones, I took it upon myself to help my brother secure a position as a police officer. Yet, in doing so, I unwittingly led him down a path that unveiled a hidden truth about Manikam.

Subsequently, it’s disclosed that Manikam is in fact a notorious gangster known as Manik Baasha, who once held power over Mumbai. As word of his hidden identity leaks out, an old adversary—Mark Antony—reemerges to seek his vengeance, driving the plot forward for the remainder of the movie.

Under the guidance of Suresh Krissna as director, Rajinikanth stars in this movie, joined by a talented cast including Nagma, Raghuvaran, Janagaraj, Devan, Shashi Kumar, Vijayakumar, Anandaraj, and others. Interestingly, the storyline of this film was influenced by a scene from the movie “Hum,” though that scene wasn’t actually filmed. Amitabh Bachchan played the lead in the original concept. On the professional side of Rajinikanth, he’s gearing up for his next project titled “Coolie”. This film, helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is anticipated to be a high-octane action flick. Notably, it will also feature notable actors like Nagarjuna Akkineni and Upendra Rao in significant roles.

The movie titled “Coolie” is scheduled to premiere on August 14, 2025, coinciding with the release of the Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR-starrer “War 2” which falls on Independence Day. Furthermore, there are speculations that Aamir Khan will make a guest appearance in this film.
