Poker Face Season 3 Gets Cryptic Update From Showrunner

Tony Tost, the producer behind “Poker Face,” has given some hints about whether the Peacock show is going to be renewed for a third season. This highly praised drama series premiered in 2023 and is exclusively broadcast on Peacock. The second season was released in May 2025, with the last episode airing on July 10, 2025, causing quite a buzz among viewers about whether another season will be produced.

Tony Tost says Poker Season 3 will be decided by Peacock and creator Rian Johnson

As a devoted fan, I eagerly followed the season finale of Poker Face and, like many others, was left wondering if our beloved series would continue. Intriguingly, the show’s mastermind, Tony Tost, recently graced The Wrap with an exclusive interview where he shed light on the possibility of Season 3.

During his conversation about the suspenseful finale of Season 2, Tost expressed that ultimately, the decision on whether the show will continue for another season lies with Peacock, the studio. He explained, “Whether there’s a Season 3 or not is more of a collaborative discussion between Peacock, Rian (Johnson), Natasha (Lyonne), and myself, who am content to play my part as a helpful and hopeful assistant in this process.

He added, “However, this appears to be primarily Natasha and Rian’s show. Therefore, it seems reasonable to assume that discussions begin there. Of course, the initial step is determining if MRC and Peacock perceive a need for another season, and then negotiations ensue based on that.

Additionally, Tost clarified that Rian Johnson was the driving force behind the storylines presented in Season 2. He explained, “It was essentially Rian’s idea from the start. When we gathered for the writers’ room, I began by asking about the season’s overarching plot, and he simply said, ‘don’t fret about it.'”

The director went on to say, “I had written 201, 202, and 203 on the board as a rough guide – there are 12 episodes in total, so how should we decide what to include? He suggested, ‘Why don’t you remove those cards for now, and when our writers arrive, let’s concentrate on crafting one compelling mystery for each episode. We would then work out the overall season plot later.’

Thus, according to Tost, if Season 3 happens, “it’s really Rian’s call.”
