Pokemon Sleep can now be paired with smartwatches

As a seasoned gamer with a rich history of playing Pokemon games since their inception, I must admit that the news about Pokemon Sleep‘s expansion to smartwatches has left me both intrigued and slightly skeptical. While it’s exciting to see The Pokemon Company venturing into new territories, I can’t help but wonder if this is a step too far from the core gaming experience we all know and love.

In recent times, one of the intriguing projects from The Pokemon Company has been Pokemon Sleep. But when you consider a mobile app, it can seem puzzling as to how it tracks a person’s sleeping habits. To clarify this, The Pokemon Company is broadening the scope of Pokemon Sleep to smartwatches with an upcoming update.

Based on information from the Pokemon Sleep website, these are the devices that can be used for the Pokemon sleep tracking game:

  • Apple Watch, except Apple Watch (1st generation), Apple Watch Series 1, Apple Watch Series 2 (all models)
  • Samsung Galaxy Watch, Samsung Galaxy Fit, Samsung Galaxy Ring Series
  • Google Pixel Watch Series
  • Fitbit Series (but not Fitbit Classic, Fitbit Ultra, Fitbit One, Fitbit Zip, Fitbit Flex, Fitbit Force, Fitbit Charge, Fitbit Charge HR, Fitbit Surge, Fitbit Alta, Fitbit Ace, Fitbit Ace 2, Fitbit Ace 3, Fitbit Inspire, or Fitbit Ace LTE)

In a simple manner, Pokemon Sleep will work alongside Apple Health (on iOS) and Health Connect (on Android) to gather your sleep details. The official Pokemon Sleep website offers clear guidance on connecting the app with your Apple Watch or Android device. To use the app effectively, your sleep periods should be at least 90 minutes long, and you can record a maximum of two sleep sessions per day. Essentially, wear your smartwatch to bed and let the app handle its tasks. If you own the Pokemon GO Plus accessory, there are some extra steps you can take to ensure synchronization.

Boasting over $100 million USD in earnings, Pokemon Sleep is financially stable without a doubt. Yet, there’s always potential for increased profits, and diving into the smartwatch market could greatly increase the app’s user base. Stay tuned to Shacknews for the latest developments on this front.
