Pokemon GO Tour Unova will head to Los Angeles and Taiwan in 2025

As a seasoned Pokemon GO gamer with years of capturing and battling under my belt, I must say the latest announcements from Niantic have me absolutely buzzing! The return to the Rose Bowl for the 2025 Pokemon GO Tour Unova is an event I’ve been eagerly anticipating since the success of last year’s tournament.

Niantic is persistently introducing fresh content for Pokemon GO, their highly popular mobile game. This week, they unveiled the latest season called Dual Destiny, which forms part of a broader expansion into the Unova region. In line with this expansion, Niantic has recently announced details about the 2025 Pokemon GO Tour. Following the success of the 2024 event held at the Rose Bowl in Southern California, they plan to host another round there. Interestingly, a second real-life location is being incorporated for the first time since its introduction – players in New Taipei City, Taiwan will also have an opportunity to participate.

The Pokemon GO Tour Unova is scheduled from February 21st to 23rd. This event is inspired by the Black and White generations of Pokemon and will introduce some brand-new Shiny Pokemon, such as the first-ever Shiny Meloetta. By acquiring a Masterwork Research ticket, players can progress towards discovering this Shiny Pokemon. Notably, there’s no expiration date on these tickets, so participants can work on completing the objectives at their convenience.

Keep an eye out for notable Pokemon such as Reshiram and Zekrom, found in Five-Star Raids. Each has its shiny version available. Additionally, you may come across Deerling variations, along with Pikachu donning hats from characters like Hilbert, Hilda, Nate, and Rosa from the games Pokemon Black & White and Pokemon Black 2 & White 2. During the Global GO Tour event from March 1-2, participants will have access to Timed Research tasks for capturing Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus in their Incarnate Forme. These tickets are priced at $30 USD, but early bird purchasers can grab them for $25 before the end of the year.

It appears that the city of Los Angeles is overjoyed about the influx of Pokemon trainers. Not only has the Rose Bowl been reopened for Pokemon GO enthusiasts, but the event will extend to Los Angeles County Metro stations. At these stations, unique PokeStops will feature Team GO Rocket Grunts with exclusive Shadow Pokemon such as Roggenrola, Drilbur, Timburr, Joltik, Litwick, and Golett. Furthermore, various citywide events are being organized in Los Angeles and Orange County for the duration of GO Tour weekend.

There’s quite a bit happening for the GO Tour, but there’s more excitement in the realm of Pokemon GO. From this year’s Pokemon GO Fest, Necrozma is set to reappear, exclusively during Raids scheduled on December 14th. On the other hand, a beloved Pokemon character will join Gigantamax Max Battles, as Gigantamax Lapras will be accessible starting from December 8th.
