Soon, we’ll be unveiling the star-studded cast for “Poacher’s Moon,” an upcoming South African crime drama film –
Filming for the movie titled “Poacher’s Moon,” penned and directed by debutant Tom Datnow, has commenced at the Kimberley location in the Northern Cape. Datnow, who is also playing the role of James Hollander in the production, wrote the screenplay for this film.
Who else is part of the Poachers Moon cast?
I’m teaming up with Datnow in the game Poacher’s Moon, and here are some of my fellow players: Kwenzo Ngcobo, Muzi Mthabela, Ayanda Bandla-Ngubane, Stelio Savante, Ntando Zondi, Thami Mngqolo, Kathryn Crosby, Andre Jacobs, Leroy Gopal, Martez Saporta-Rothuysen, and Sabelo Radebe. We’re all ready to navigate this exciting adventure together!
In the backdrop of South Africa’s stunning landscape, Poachers Moon is an intense crime thriller that uncovers the harsh truths experienced by two old friends, as they struggle with tragedy, poverty, and the dark underworld of rhino poaching. The narrative intertwines their destinies, showcasing courage, perseverance, and optimism in the lives of James Hollander (played by Datnow) and Michael ‘Moremi’ Zungu (portrayed by Ngcobo).

The film “Poachers Moon” is created by Datnow’s production company, DODATNOW FILMS, with Mqondisi ‘MQ’ Ngubane serving as the producer. Previously, he held the position of executive producer for the 2024 South African Christmas movie titled “A Wesley.
The film is additionally backed by various departments within the Northern Cape Government, such as the Premier’s Office, the Departments of Sports, Arts, and Culture, Economic Development and Tourism, and the Northern Cape Economic Development Agency (NCEDA).
About three-quarters of the Poacher’s Moon team are based in the Northern Cape region, with the rest hailing from Gauteng, the U.S., and the U.K.
A release date for Poachers Moon has not yet been announced.
