In approximately a month, The First Descendant Season 2 Episode 2 is on the horizon, promising the debut of Serena alongside photo mode and additional features. Nexon remains dedicated to TFD, delivering weekly updates, and we anticipate that February 27th will unveil agent skins in the game. At present, Nexon has just rolled out patch 1.2.8, but The First Descendant players are expressing dissatisfaction due to Nexon modifying some previously free rewards.
The First Descendant update 1.2.8 changes free rewards
In the version 1.2.7 update, Nexon presented more than a dozen complimentary prizes for The First Descendant players to claim between February 13th and March 12th. Although most of the rewards remain consistent, the latest update 1.2.8 patch notes suggest some modifications:
- Event Operation: Changed the Rewards for completing Kate’s Experiment Assistant Daily Operation 30 times.
Completing Kate’s Experiment Assistant Daily Operation 30 times used to earn you Flutter as a reward, but now the incentives have changed and they are as follows:
(Or)
Previously, completing Kate’s Experiment Assistant Daily Operation 30 times would result in earning Flutter. However, the rewards have been updated and here’s what you can expect now:
🚀 Save Up to $1,200 on the Samsung Galaxy S25!
*Includes trade-in value + $300 Samsung credit.
- Social Motion ‘Comic Dance’
- 10 Paints
- 2 Enamel deep black
- 2 Real matte black
- 2 Clear white
- 2 Alternative white
- 2 Shiny metal silver
The expiration date to get the above rewards remains February 26th.
As a gamer, I’ve noticed that with the recent update, there are more goodies for completing Kate’s Experiment Assistant Daily Operation 30 times. However, many of us are bummed out because the emote’s spawn has been altered. This is causing frustration among players who were still working on completing the operation and missed the chance to get the emote due to its sudden change in appearance.
In response to the recent alteration on Reddit, a rather upset comment reads, “Can you believe it? The only reason I’ve been logging in and doing dailies is because of that spawn reward.” Another user chimes in with, “That’s just stupid. This is the second time they’ve changed the reward.” Yet another expresses frustration by saying, “What the hell? I was grinding away, just for the spawn. Underhanded move, Nexon.
It seems that if you finished Continuous Operation II prior to the update, you might have gotten the ‘Flutter’ spawn item instead of the new reward in your game mail. Nexon mentioned on Discord that they will retrieve the incorrect item from those affected and issue the updated reward appropriately.
It’s disheartening to learn about this. The fact that the reward is changing is unfortunate, but taking away the Flutter from players who had previously worked hard towards obtaining it through grinding, with the intention of getting the spawn, makes it even more disappointing. Here’s hoping Nexon avoids such actions in the future.
According to Nexon, “The First Descendant” game is not meeting their anticipated performance levels.
