Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for their upcoming SpongeBob SquarePants spin-off, titled Plankton: The Movie. This new series will focus on the life of the main antagonist, Plankton, and his robotic spouse, Karen. The movie premieres on streaming platforms starting March 7. Following this announcement, we also learned that last year saw the release of another spin-off, Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie, which traced the journey of the title character back to her home in Texas.
In a twist of events, the world of tiny sea creatures known as plankton is turned on its head when their grand scheme for global conquest is foiled.

What happens in the Plankton: The Movie trailer?
The video showcases Plankton, whose ambition for global control is thwarted when his wife Karen, long exasperated by his disregard of her suggestions, reaches a breaking point. This escalates into an unexpected argument that causes chaos in Bikini Bottom. Left with no other options, the antagonist is forced to collaborate with SpongeBob, Patrick, and their companions to mend fences with Karen and prevent her from executing her plan for world domination.
As a passionate fan, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been part of the team bringing “Plankton: The Movie” to life! This extraordinary film is under the brilliant direction of Dave Needham, with screenplays penned by the talented duo, Mr. Lawrence & Kaz, and another pair, Mr. Lawrence & Chris Viscardi. The story itself is a masterpiece from the creative mind of Mr. Lawrence.
In terms of voices, you’ll hear me (Mr. Lawrence) as Plankton, Jill Talley as Karen, the inimitable Tom Kenny as SpongeBob, Bill Fagerbakke as Patrick, Carolyn Lawrence as Sandy, Clancy Brown as Mr. Krabs, and Rodger Bumpass as Squidward.
