As a gaming veteran with decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that Tour de Pizza has once again managed to pique my interest and get me excited for their upcoming title, Woon. Having played countless beat-’em-ups in my time, the prospect of another well-crafted entry into this genre is always welcome.
Independent game developer Tour de Pizza left quite an impression on the gaming world when they unveiled Pizza Tower in 2023, and rightly so, given their exceptional work. However, they’re not resting on their laurels; instead, they’re busy crafting something fresh. In fact, they gave a sneak peek into their upcoming game, Woon, which is being touted as a beat-’em-up with multiplayer capabilities.
On their social media platform, Tour de Pizza provided a brief sneak peek into Woon’s unique gameplay. Earlier this year, Woon was initially unveiled with a short animation featuring four characters: Crazy Chicken, Mr. Smiles, Blimpi, and Clownputer. Additionally, the animation displayed an unusual, jester-like visage. In the recently released prototype gameplay teaser, we see the Crazy Chicken character pummeling a group of moon-shaped adversaries. According to the developers, Woon is a “beat-’em-up” game that includes multiplayer functionality online.

It’s thrilling to observe Tour de Pizza developing another game following the fantastic debut of Pizza Tower. The game was highly appreciated by the community due to its comedic art style and robust, swift platforming. This appreciation extended as it made it onto our Shacknews Top 23 Indie Games of 2023. To add to its success, the game was released on Nintendo Switch in 2023 and received a complimentary update, turning one of the bosses into a playable character.
