As per its recent update, The DisInsider indicates that Johnny Depp, famously known for his role as Jack Sparrow in all five Pirates of the Caribbean movies, is planning to rejoin the series. Moreover, Disney is said to be subtly readying themselves to initiate production on a sixth installment at a near future, with Depp expected to come back to the franchise in this upcoming film.
The report emerges exactly two months following Jerry Bruckheimer’s disclosure that there were two distinct screenplays underway for the film. One script involves Johnny Depp’s return, while the other aims to steer the series along a fresh path.
According to The DisInsider’s report, they haven’t found enough reliable sources to confirm the details about Johnny Depp, which means they’re viewing it as more of a rumor rather than factual information for now.
It’s uncertain if Depp will rejoin the cast, but it seems doubtful that Orlando Bloom (William Turner) and Keira Knightley (Elizabeth Swann), who starred in the first three movies, will be back. Last year, Knightley expressed her reluctance to continue working on film franchises due to the challenging experience of making the Pirate films, while Bloom has shown some hesitation about a return.
Last month, Bloom expressed, “That was quite an exhilarating and enjoyable event, so I wouldn’t rule out anything in the future. I hold that experience, as well as Jerry, in high regard, and the whole situation too.” However, he added, “I haven’t given it much thought yet, to be honest.
