Percy Jackson Finds New Zeus Actor Following Lance Reddick’s Death

As a seasoned gamer and avid fan of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, I can hardly contain my excitement about the casting announcement for Season 2! Courtney B. Vance stepping into the role of Zeus is an inspired choice, and while it’s always bittersweet when we bid farewell to a beloved actor like Lance Reddick, I believe his divine spirit will certainly be present in Vance’s performance.

Courtney B. Vance is set to assume the role of Zeus in “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” Season 2, taking over from the late Lance Reddick.

In the thrilling world of gaming, I found myself immersed as Zeus in Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ debut season, streaming exclusively on Disney+ come December 2023. Regrettably, my journey as Zeus was cut short, as news of the esteemed actor, Reddick, passing away surfaced shortly after our first season wrapped up in March 2023. He left us at the age of 60.

According to reports, Vance will step into the role previously held by Zeus in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2.

What did Courtney B. Vance say about playing Zeus in Percy Jackson?

Vance expressed his enthusiasm in a statement: “I’m thrilled beyond words to be part of the exceptional cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians! It’s not every day that an actor gets to jump on a series with such a passionate fanbase, featuring characters adored globally, and derived from a best-selling book series. I’m looking forward to this role as Zeus, and when the opportunity arises, I’ll give my brother, Lance Reddick, who we lost far too soon, a warm embrace in the heavens.

In 2016, Vance was awarded the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie, specifically for his portrayal of Johnnie Cochran in The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story. Later, in 2020, he won another Primetime Emmy, this time for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series, due to his role in Lovecraft Country.

His body of work spans from “The Hunt for Red October” (1990), “Space Cowboys” (2000), “Final Destination 5” (2011), “Terminator Genisys” (2015), “The Mummy” (2017), and “The Photograph” and “Project Power” (both from 2020). He’s also set to appear as Cobra Bubbles in the upcoming live-action remake of “Lilo & Stitch.

In the second season of Percy Jackson: The Olympians, we have Walker Scobell portraying Percy, Leah Sava Jeffries stepping into Annabeth’s role, Aryan Simhadri joining as Grover, Andra Day taking on Athena, Daniel Diemer appearing as Tyson, and Timothy Simons bringing Tantalus to life.

The second season of “Percy Jackson as the Olympians” is being made right now. It’s forecasted to debut on Disney+ in 2025.
