As a dedicated fan of Emily Henry’s enchanting novels, I can hardly contain my excitement about Netflix’s adaptations of “Happy Place” and “People We Meet on Vacation.” The recent casting announcements for the latter have sent my anticipation soaring!
Recently, we were thrilled to find out that Netflix would not only be adapting but _two_ of Emily Henry’s bestselling novels into live productions last month. Jennifer Lopez is set to produce a Netflix series based on “Happy Place”, while Netflix will also transform “People We Meet on Vacation” into a movie. The stars for the film have already been chosen, and now we’re getting updates about who else is joining the cast.
In the principal roles as the primary characters Poppy Wright and Alex Nilsen, the book “People We Meet on Vacation” will feature Emily Bader and Tom Blyth. Both are promising talents and ideal fits for these roles. Alongside Bader and Blyth, four well-known actors who have graced our screens in numerous Netflix films and series will also be part of the cast.
On September 18th, Netflix revealed that actors Sarah Catherine Hook, Jameela Jamil, Lucien Laviscount, and Lukas Gage have secured their spots for an upcoming project! Although the specific roles they’ll play haven’t been officially confirmed, fans of the book may be able to make some informed predictions. For instance, Jamil might take on the role of Poppy’s boss Swapna, while Hook could portray Poppy’s best friend Rachel or Alex’s love interest Sarah. Perhaps Gage will play one of Poppy’s brothers – we’ll have to wait and see!

The four new cast members in “People We Meet on Vacation” aren’t unfamiliar with Netflix, as they’ve made appearances over the years. Jameela Jamil, who gained popularity from NBC’s “The Good Place,” continues to grace our screens on this streaming platform. She also served as the narrator for the successful romantic comedy film “Love at First Sight” that debuted in September 2023 on Netflix.
Sarah Catherine Hook was among the two main actors of the brief yet fan-favorite teen supernatural series “First Kill“. The show premiered in 2022 and quickly won over its audience, but unfortunately, Netflix decided not to continue with a second season. However, fans will soon get another chance to see Hook on Netflix in the upcoming series “People We Meet on Vacation“.
As a gamer, I can’t help but feel proud when I see my name pop up on the screen more than others. Lukas Gage, that’s me, has graced Netflix with his presence more times than most, thanks to a recurring role in American Vandal and a guest spot on On My Block.
To wrap it up, Lucien Laviscount is well-known for his role as one of Emily’s love interests in “Emily in Paris”. He joined the Netflix original romantic comedy series as Alfie starting from season 2 and continued through to season 4. In seasons 3 and 4, he was a regular cast member. Many are eagerly anticipating what the upcoming movie will bring for Laviscount!
