Pedro Pascal on if Reed Richards Could Match Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but share my thoughts on stepping into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, alongside the legendary Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark/Iron Man. With my debut in The Fantastic Four: First Steps and upcoming appearances in Avengers: Doomsday, I can’t help but ponder how our characters would interact.

In my mind, Reed Richards is all about innovation and collaboration – always eager to learn from others while sharing his vast knowledge. Tony Stark, on the other hand, embodies charisma and quick thinking in the heat of battle. So, I imagine a dynamic duo, where our brains combine to tackle problems that seem insurmountable to others.

I’m genuinely excited to explore this partnership and see how it unfolds as we take on the challenges that lie ahead in the Marvel Universe!

Even Pedro Pascal thinks Tony Stark is more charismatic than Reed Richards

In a recent interview with ComicBook, Pedro Pascal discussed how his character would react to Tony Stark’s intelligence and charm. He expressed, “Goodness gracious, I (Reed) would have been utterly puzzled by him (Tony). Honestly, I don’t think I would have even attempted to engage in a conversation with him due to his level of wit.

Additionally, the actor mentioned, “If he were open to discussing science, I’d be overjoyed. However, if he were leading a discussion, I’d simply become a spectator, I believe.

In the Emmy-nominated actor’s viewpoint, Reed and Tony may discover a mutual understanding when discussing scientific topics, as this was how Tony formed a bond with Mark Ruffalo’s character, Bruce Banner/Hulk, in The Avengers due to their shared passion for science. Despite the apparent differences in their charisma, there is another facet of their personalities that Tony and Reed could likely identify with each other.

1) In the 2019 movie Avengers: Endgame, Tony Stark is a parent and chooses not to participate with the group in reversing Thanos’ actions from Avengers: Infinity War (2018). On the other hand, in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Reed Richards appears to father Ada Scott’s child named Franklin Richards.

In the upcoming Marvel Universe, it’s Pascal’s Reed instead of Tony who will confront Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom – a character known as Reed’s main antagonist from the comics. Kevin Feige hinted that Tony might be played by another actor in the MCU at some point. So, even though there’ll be a new Tony, it’s possible for this revamped Tony to interact with Reed in the future.

In U.S. theaters, the premiere of “The Fantastic Four: First Footsteps” takes place on July 25, 2025. On December 18, 2026, we’ll see “Avengers: Doomsday” hitting the screens.
