Steven Knight, the mastermind behind Peaky Blinders, has shared some exciting news about the forthcoming film featuring Cillian Murphy in the lead role.
In June 2024, it was confirmed that a Peaky Blinders film is in the works, produced by Netflix. Penned by Steven Knight, this cinematic endeavor will see Cillian Murphy once again embodying the character of Thomas Shelby. The project will be helmed by director Tom Harper.
Steven Knight confirms full theatrical release for Peaky Blinders movie
Recently, Steven Knight had an engaging conversation with The Playlist, where he disclosed some thrilling updates on the upcoming release.
When questioned about a theatrical release for the Peaky Blinders film on Netflix, Knight replied, “Indeed, I’ve just announced it. Therefore, the answer is yes.” Furthermore, he emphasized that the fans are the primary reason for the movie’s theater debut.
He described fans as being “very enthusiastic,” and went on to say, “I truly hope they’ll be able to experience this collectively in a single venue since our interactions have mainly been virtual. However, I prefer this event to unfold on the big screen so that people can gather and watch it happen together.
Knight opens up on what comes after the Peaky Blinders movie
Steven Knight shared additional details with the publication, revealing that there’s still more story to explore beyond the Peaky Blinders film.
Knight suggested that there’s a lot more story to be told about Peaky Blinders and hinted at potential spin-offs by saying, “We’ve got plenty more if we choose to continue. We can simply carry on; moving forward in time.
Furthermore, Knight mentioned his intent to release additional tales should the audience express interest. Essentially, he stated that if there’s a desire for it, people ask for it, and he has stories to share, then why not oblige?
As reported by Variety, during an interview with BBC Breakfast in February, Knight hinted that the world of ‘Peaky Blinders’ would carry on, although he couldn’t officially confirm it.
