Peacemaker Season 2: Michael Rooker’s DC Villain Red St. Wild’s Role Explained

It’s officially confirmed that Michael Rooker will join the cast of “Peacemaker Season 2“, playing Red St. Wild. Fans have been speculating for months about his potential appearance. The buzz grew stronger as Gunn hinted at new cast members and shared glimpses of footage suggesting a focus on Eagly’s storyline. Recently, Gunn announced that Rooker will take on the role of a main adversary, adding fresh conflicts and strengthening connections to the expanding DC Universe.

Michael Rooker’s Red St. Wild is Eagly’s nemesis in Peacemaker Season 2

Michael Rooker joins the DC Universe once more in Season 2 of Peacemaker, taking on the role of Red St. Wild – a fresh adversary created by James Gunn. According to Gunn, Red St. Wild is famed as the top eagle hunter globally, dedicated to eliminating Eagly, Peacemaker’s devoted bird sidekick. In Season 2, Rooker portrays Red St. Wild who clashes directly with Eagly and becomes a significant figure in the season’s extended plotlines.

In this new role, Rooker makes his fourth appearance within the DC Universe. Previously, he voiced Sam Fitzgibbon in Creature Commandos, donned the Superman Robot #5 costume, and brought Savant to life in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad (2021).

Entertainment Weekly was informed by Gunn that Red St. Wild introduces a fresh dimension to Season 2 as it provides Eagly with a personal enemy. “We believed Eagly was likely the most beloved character from season 1,” Gunn explained. “In season 2, he has his own tale involving his arch-enemy, portrayed by none other than the loathsome Michael Rooker.

In Season 2, there will be new characters joining the cast, including Langston Fleury, played by Tim Meadows, who is an A.R.G.U.S. agent. Producer Gunn mentioned that Fleury serves to fill the emotional gap created by Peacemaker’s transformation, as he has become a more sensitive individual. Gunn described Fleury as a character who is often politically incorrect and behaves rudely throughout much of the season, providing a stark contrast to Peacemaker’s emotional development.

The upcoming season intertwines closely with the larger DC Universe, especially James Gunn’s revamp of Superman. As stated by Gunn, “It’s deeply connected to Superman and what follows.” This series showcases appearances from characters associated with Superman, such as Guy Gardner (portrayed by Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), and Maxwell Lord (Sean Gunn). Moreover, it revolves around the Quantum Unfolding Chamber (QUC), a crucial technological artifact that is significant in Superman’s world.

According to Gunn, Season 2 is set “several years” following the end of Season 1, but he deliberately left the specific timeframe unspecified.
