In a recent chat, Patrick Schwarzenegger shared that he’s attempted three different superhero roles up to now. One of these was Superman in the DC Universe, but it was David Corenswet who ended up getting cast for that part. Here’s what Schwarzenegger had to say about his tryouts.
Patrick Schwarzenegger on how his Superman audition for DCU went
Patrick Schwarzenegger, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver’s son, talked about his career, family, and acting challenges on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast. During the discussion, the topic shifted to potential auditions for superhero roles in movies and TV shows, with Superman from James Gunn’s forthcoming DCU movie being one of the characters mentioned.
The actor from Moxie explained that he didn’t advance deeply in the auditioning stage. He mentioned he never had an opportunity to wear the costume, and suggested that he may not have received any feedback, implying it seemed unlikely he would be chosen for the role.
Luckily for me, not landing the Superman role turned out to be a blessing in disguise because I snagged a part on the smash-hit TV series “The White Lotus” shortly afterward. – Patrick Schwarzenegger
In his auditions for superhero roles, he tried out for John/Homelander on Amazon’s The Boys and Luke Riordan/Golden Boy in Gen V, a spin-off of The Boys. Although he didn’t secure the Homelander role, which was given to Anthony Starr, he was indeed chosen for the Golden Boy character.
31-years-old, Schwarzenegger is the eldest son and third child born to his parents. He shares familial ties with both the Kennedy and Shriver lineages through his mother. As a young boy, Schwarzenegger made his film debut in the 2006 sports comedy, The Benchwarmers. Throughout his career, he has taken on roles in movies like Grown Ups 2, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, The Staircase, and American Sports Story.
In The White Lotus Season 3, Arnold Schwarzenegger takes on the role of Saxon Ratliff, who is the offspring of Timothy Ratliff (played by Jason Isaacs) and Victoria Ratliff (portrayed by Parker Posey).
