As a seasoned gamer with over a decade of experience under my belt, I must say I’m thrilled about the upcoming Early Access release of Path of Exile 2 in December 2024. Five years of anticipation has been quite the journey, and finally, we’re getting closer to returning to the gritty world of Wraeclast.
As a passionate fan, I’ve been eagerly waiting almost five years for Grinding Gear Games to unveil Path of Exile 2. The first glimpse into their work-in-progress will be through Early Access, offering an abundance of content with even more on the horizon. Our journey back to Wraeclast promises refreshed versions of many familiar systems, brimming with changes that will keep PoE theorists engrossed for months. So, when can we revisit the gritty ARPG? Path of Exile 2 Early Access release date
The sequel to Path of Exile, titled Path of Exile 2, is projected to launch in Early Access on December 6, 2024. At the moment, the specific release time hasn’t been announced yet. Nevertheless, considering that new seasons in Path of Exile usually begin around 7 or 8 PM British Summer Time (BST), this could be a reasonable guess. However, we must await an official announcement to confirm this and will update this post as soon as more details emerge.

As an ardent follower of the thrilling world of Path of Exile, I’m excited to share that the much-anticipated sequel, Path of Exile 2, will be available on a variety of platforms! This includes the PC via Steam and Epic Games Launcher, as well as next-gen consoles like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. So, regardless of your preferred gaming platform, you can join me in this epic journey!
How to play PoE2 Early Access?
Here are a few methods to secure Early Access to Path of Exile 2. Of particular note, players who have invested over $480 on microtransactions in the original game will receive an automatic Early Access pass. Additionally, Supporter Packs can be purchased from the GGG store, offering PoE points and Early Access, with prices starting at $30 for a key and 300 Points, and scaling up within a familiar tiered system that includes cosmetics, MTX, and even physical merchandise.
Path of Exile 2 Early Access features
Path of Exile 2 introduces modifications to several key aspects from the initial game. One significant change is that skill gems no longer have to be inserted into equipment to function. During Early Access, six out of twelve planned character classes will be available, each with two out of three intended ascendancies. The full campaign will consist of six acts initially, but the first three acts will be provided in Early Access. To make up for this, there’ll be an additional round of the first three acts with increased difficulty, providing a challenge from levels 45 to 65, which marks the start of the endgame. This equates to approximately 40-60 hours of campaign play before delving into the core gameplay experience.
In Path of Exile 2, veterans will recognize the structure of the endgame content due to the return of diverse types of advancement, like Trials, Breach, Expeditions, Rituals, Delirium, Pinnacle Bosses, and more. The Atlas has been overhauled, now existing as a map where you will traverse and customize nodes to shape your endgame experience according to your preferences. As with PoE, there’s a skill tree for every aspect of the endgame progression.
