As an avid movie enthusiast with over two decades of experience under my belt, I find myself intrigued by the latest updates from Paramount Pictures. The shift in release dates for some highly anticipated films has certainly stirred a sense of curiosity within me.
Important: Paramount is adjusting some of its 2025 movie release dates, and they’ve officially announced that the film “The Running Man,” led by Glen Powell, will be released on that date.
When does The Running Man release?
Breaking the largest headlines, “The Running Man” movie is set to debut on November 21, 2025, potentially clashing with “Wicked: Part Two” during a particularly bustling period of the holiday season.
The upcoming movie is set to be helmed by director Edgar Wright, with Michael Bacall penning the script. At this point, details about the film remain scarce, but it’s known that it will be a fresh take on Stephen King’s 1982 novel with the same title. This novel was previously adapted into a movie in 1987, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Paramount changes dates for Naked Gun, Smurfs, more
Alongside the new version of The Running Man, Paramount has adjusted the premiere dates for several movies, starting in 2024. Initially scheduled for release on November 5, the movie is now slated for a limited release on November 29, 2024, followed by a wider release on December 13, 2024. The film’s previous release date was November 27, but it has been slightly delayed.
In another slot on the schedule, the horror movie “Vicious,” helmed by Bryan Bertino, is being shifted forward from August 8, 2025, to February 28, 2025. This film features actors like Dakota Fanning, Kathryn Hunter, Mary McCormack, Rachel Blanchard, Devyn Nekoda, and others. The plot revolves around a woman who experiences an existential crisis after receiving a mysterious gift from an unknown person.
The release date for “The Smurfs Movie” has been adjusted from Valentine’s Day 2025 to June 18, 2025. Directed by Chris Miller and written by Pam Brady, this movie boasts an impressive cast that includes Rihanna, Nick Offerman, Natasha Lyonne, JP Karliak, Daniel Levy, Amy Sedaris, Nick Kroll, James Corden, Octavia Spencer, Hannah Waddingham, Sandra Oh, Alex Winter, Billie Lourd, and Xolo Maridueña. Stars such as Kurt Russell and John Goodman will also be appearing in this production.
