Paramount+ Declines to Renew ‘Frasier’ Revival Series for a Third Season

It seems that the revival of the well-known sitcom “Fraiser” will no longer continue as Paramount+ has chosen not to renew it for another season. However, CBS Studios intends to offer the show, starring Kelsey Grammer, to different streaming platforms instead.

On platforms like Prime Video and Hulu, you can find series originals streaming. Unfortunately, the first two seasons didn’t seem to resonate much with audiences who prefer shows produced by Taylor Sheridan or new takes on “Star Trek.” It was one of only two original comedies available, while “Colin From Accounts,” which is thriving under a different business model, is the other.

Streaming services such as Prime Video and Hulu host series originals. Regrettably, the first two seasons didn’t seem to capture the interest of viewers who are more drawn to shows from Taylor Sheridan or reimagined versions of “Star Trek.” It was one of just two original comedies on the platform, with “Colin From Accounts,” which is successful under a distinct business approach, being the other.

The character of Frasier Crane first appeared on the show “Cheers,” and later starred in a separate series, which ran from 1993 to 2004. This new series followed Frasier later in his life as he moved to Boston with the intention of reconnecting with his son Freddy (portrayed by Jack Cutmore-Scott). The new cast included several new characters, but also welcomed back familiar faces such as Frasier’s ex-wife Lilith (played by Bebe Neuwirth) and his former coworker Roz (Peri Gilpin).

An effort was made to persuade David Hyde Pierce, known for his role as Frasier’s brother Niles, to appear on the show again, but he chose not to participate.
