If you’ve ever felt frustrated while trying to construct your ideal home in The Sims 4, realizing that curved walls aren’t allowed and your preferred couch costs twenty real-world dollars, you might have exclaimed, “There has to be a more convenient solution.”
Well, here’s some exciting news – there is. The name of this solution is Paralives, and it could potentially be the life sim that outshines all others.
Built Different – Literally
Paralives is the result of developers truly tuning into life simulation game enthusiasts, not just occasionally but continuously, fervently, even compulsively. Despite being an indie game, it already exudes a heartfelt homage to the genre. The experience begins with the house you create.
In contrast to conventional games, forget about grids and restrictions like “you can’t place that there.” In Paralives, you can elongate, bend, adjust size, alter colors, and redesign almost everything. So if you fancy a lamp towering over your fridge or a house built with curved walls and uneven floors, feel free to indulge. The color wheel isn’t simply a novelty; it serves as your artistic toolbox, and each piece of furniture becomes your canvas.
The character creation tool, referred to by Paralives as the Parafolk editor, offers a remarkable depth. Here, you’ll find adjustable height sliders, extensive customization options for bodies and faces that go beyond simple presets, and comprehensive personality systems designed to influence gameplay significantly. Your Parafolks won’t just appear unique; they will truly embody uniqueness.
Open World, Open Possibilities
Instead of The Sims 4 where you need to wait on loading screens even to visit a neighbor nearby, Paralives presents an uninterrupted open world. Bike over to the beach, drive to the mountains, catch up with friends at the park or restaurant – it’s your town, and it’s always bustling. The seasons shift, your actions resonate – everything is linked together.
Paralives comes out in Early Access on December 8, 2025

No More DLC Nightmares
This is the key point: Paralives will never restrict content with paid DLCs; instead, everything such as weather, pets, careers, and more will be available from the get-go, with all future updates coming at no cost. No longer will players have to pay extra for essential features like washing machines or toddlers (looking at you, Sims 4 players). Additionally, mod support is already integrated, making it possible to access, customize, and share houses, characters, gameplay adjustments via Steam Workshop.
Could This Be The One?
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve been waiting for a life sim that truly hits the mark, and it looks like Paralives might just be that game. Unlike The Sims which feels more like a dollhouse with restricted access, or inZOI that’s still unfolding, Paralives seems to offer the perfect blend of full customizability, immersive gameplay, an authentic open world, and no wallet traps. It’s almost like having the complete LEGO mansion I’ve always dreamed of – with all the keys, tools, and a few furry friends added for good measure.
The best part is, we don’t have to wait too long. Paralives enters Early Access on December 8th, and you can already add it to your wishlist on Steam!
