In my gaming world, Monster Hunter is more than just a globally recognized franchise – it’s an absolute juggernaut in its homeland, Japan. So massive, that game developers are known to fake sickness just to dive into the action on its launch day!
Developers of Palworld can take a break and indulge in Monster Hunter Wilds, as their employers, Pocketpair, are granting them a day off to celebrate the upcoming release and make the most of the extended weekend.

On Twitter or X, Pocketpair Inc. shared through Automaton that they’ll observe a unique, work-free day at their office on February 28th instead of regular business operations.
To all staff members, in light of several reports from team members expressing potential illness for tomorrow, we are announcing a special leave day on February 28th.
Except for certain undisclosed departments, everyone else is eligible for a portion of this unique vacation. Meanwhile, progress on both Palworld and Craftopia projects continues uninterrupted and without issue.
Previously, the studio had granted a unique, non-workday for major game launches, and that’s exactly what they did a few years back when they allowed their staff a day off to enjoy Elden Ring. In simpler terms, they’ve taken time off work before for big releases like Elden Ring.
In Japan, it’s not uncommon that employers grant their staff time off to play the newest installment of games like Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest. The launch of a new game from these series often leads to a significant increase in student and employee absences and tardiness.
If you’re looking for a game to unwind with, Monster Hunter World is highly recommended. Our review praised this latest installment in the series quite a bit. As it suggests in part of its 10/10 rating, “Monster Hunter World offers an experience everyone should have. Though the main story isn’t particularly remarkable, it remains enjoyable and serves as an excellent introduction to the real game — High Rank.
On Open Critic, Monster Hunter World boasts a highly favorable “Excellent” rating and a staggering 95% of reviewers endorse it.
Tomorrow, February 28, Monster Hunter Rise will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms. If you’d like to brush up on some strategies before diving in, we’ve got plenty of helpful guides ready for you right here.
