The ongoing court case between Nintendo and Pocketpair persists, yet it doesn’t deter modders from reversing previous software upgrades.
Just Another Pokémon Clone?
Initially, there was speculation about the likeness between the game Palworld and the popular game Pokémon, both featuring creatures you can battle with and collect using spherical devices akin to Pokéballs, as well as riding on small animals. Previously, we’ve mentioned that Palworld had to eliminate certain elements due to these similarities. The legal action is grounded in patents that Nintendo filed subsequent to the release of Palworld, expanding upon existing patents.
Back in December, Nintendo’s lawsuit led to the removal of Pokéball replicas. Now, it’s the glider feature’s turn to face similar issues. However, players are not happy about this change.
Modders Don’t Care About Nintendo
Despite Nintendo enforcing their patents, some players refuse to miss out on the enjoyment in their preferred game. As such, user Primarinabee has created a mod that restores the ability for you to glide using your own creatures, a feature that was taken away in an earlier update and replaced with gliders. The update’s notes mentioned:
As of Version 0.5.5, Gliding can now only be done when using a Glider. Pals who previously could be used as gliders will now have their Partner Skill changed, providing a new gliding effect instead.
Even though Primarinabee’s “Glider Restoration Mod” needs a glider in your inventory, its functionality is quite comparable to what it was prior to the update.

Modders Preserve Games
In my gaming journey, I’ve come to appreciate the crucial role the modding community plays in keeping games fresh and exciting. And speaking as a fan of Palworld, I must say, some of the mods available are not just practical but also entertaining! For instance, there’s the Pal Analyzer, a handy tool that offers a wealth of information about those intriguing wild creatures simply by hovering your cursor over them. As you advance through the game, you’ll find yourself unlocking more and more details, keeping each new discovery feel fresh and thrilling.
In addition, there are numerous modifications available that either enhance the freedom of constructing structures or boost the game’s graphics. Once more, Palworld proves that a vibrant modding community can greatly enrich games and that these titles can continue evolving even after official support has ceased.
How about Palworld? Is it worthy of the spotlight, or merely a replica of Pokémon?
