Heart Eyes Review: The Most Predictable Slasher Ever Made

Among the numerous thoughts racing through my mind while watching “Heart Eyes,” the Valentine’s Day movie released a week before V-Day 2025, was the fact that it seemed nobody wanted to challenge the new Captain America film. The plot revolves around Ally (Olivia Holt) and Jay Simmons (Mason Gooding), who unknowingly are believed to be a couple following an intense romantic night out. Unfortunately for them, every Valentine’s Day, a masked killer targets couples, and this year, they’re setting their sights on our hapless duo, turning what was supposed to be a magical evening into a terrifying nightmare.

The plot revolves around Bradley Mack, a self-important action movie star, who faces an unexpected career downfall when his action franchise is suddenly terminated. However, his persistent agent has different plans and assigns him instead to a quaint snow-covered village for their peculiar adaptation of Cinderella. There, Bradley struggles with rehearsals alongside an eclectic group of local characters. In the process, he unexpectedly finds a glimmer of fresh starts in Jill, a no-nonsense choreographer.

The recently released artwork for the upcoming film originates from Empire Magazine. This concept art features the Factory Ship of RDA, which production designer Ben Procter likens to “a moving oil platform that is engineered to capture and refine the tulkun on a massive scale.” In it, the ship appears to be walking over water, while planes hover around it.
