The Ghosts of Ho Tzu Nyen’s ‘Three Stories’ Take Over Kiang Malingue
Ho is renowned for his deep insights into the concept of time, and over the past few years, he has produced three significant works: “Night March of Hundred Monsters” (2021), O for Opium (2023) and a more than 40-piece collection titled Timepieces (2023). Collectively, these works traverse the spectral histories of Japan through yōkai (traditional demons), the aesthetics associated with the opium trade, and the elusive essence of time itself. By merging mythology and history, Three Stories doesn’t just retell the past; it delves into the influences that mold it.
