After the box-office triumph of Paddington in Peru, it’s been announced that there will be additional Paddington stories, with Paddington 4 officially greenlit by Studiocanal.
What do we know about Paddington 4?
In a recent interview with Deadline about their company’s expansion, Anna Marsh, who serves as both CEO of Studiocanal and Deputy CEO of Canal+, revealed plans for a fourth movie in the Paddington series. Moreover, she mentioned that they are already developing other projects to further expand the iconic character beyond films.
Marsh mentioned that they’re brainstorming upcoming films, developing a new TV series, and collaborating on a stage show musical with Sonia Friedman and Eliza Lumley.
Following the triumphant release of Paddington in Peru, marking the third installment of the series, the movie topped the charts in the UK upon its debut in November. This opening set a new high for the franchise in the UK, indicating that the character had resonated strongly with audiences after the first two films.
The synopsis describes ‘Paddington in Peru’ as brimming with Paddington’s distinctive mix of cleverness, endearment, and side-splitting humor. In this thrilling escapade, the famous marmalade-loving bear finds himself lost in the dense jungle. The story unfolds when he learns that his beloved Aunt Lucy has vanished from the Retired Bears’ Home. All they have to go on is a mysterious spot marked on an intriguing map. Eager to find out what happened to Aunt Lucy, Paddington and the Brown family embark on a daring journey through the Amazon rainforest, hoping to locate her. Along the way, he might just uncover one of the world’s most legendary treasures.
The script for “Paddington in Peru” was penned by trio – Mark Burton, Jon Foster, and James Lamont. This work was inspired by an original story conceived by Burton, Simon Farnaby, and Paul King. Notably, Paul King has directed the first two movies within the Paddington series.
In addition to his role as the king, he is also a co-producer for this film, working with Anna Marsh, Ron Halpern, Dan MacRae, Jeffrey Clifford, Rob Silva, and Tim Wellspring in this capacity.
As a fellow gaming enthusiast, I’m pumped to share some exciting news! I, personally, can’t wait for “Paddington in Peru” to hit U.S. movie theaters on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2025, brought to you by Sony Pictures Releasing. Can’t wait to catch this one on the big screen!
