Owen Wilson & Alan Ritchson To Star in Action Drama Runner

Based on a Deadline report, it’s been announced that Owen Wilson and Alan Ritchson will appear in the upcoming action-drama titled Runner.

What do we know about Runner?

In the coming movie, Scott Waugh (known for his work on “Need for Speed” and “Expendables 4”) will take up the director’s chair, with screenplays penned by Tommy White and Miles Hubley.

As per the movie’s short summary, the story centers around Hank Malone (portrayed by Ritchson), a professional courier who must deliver an essential organ within three hours to save a seven-year-old girl in urgent need of a transplant. However, the apparently straightforward task turns perilous when the head of a notorious criminal organization becomes determined to seize the organ, as suggested in the film’s logline.

In the upcoming filming, Wilson is assigned to portray Ben, a medical messenger character, whom Ritchson needs to escort and safeguard throughout the movie. The production commences in Australia next month, with director Waugh expressing eagerness to dive into what he calls a “compelling” screenplay.

According to Waugh, this combination is something that he feels the audience has eagerly anticipated, and our goal is to create something surprising from the intriguing script penned by Miles and Tommy.

For Ritchson, the upcoming movie serves as his follow-up project after completing Netflix’s War Machine, and at present, he’s actively involved in shooting The Man with the Bag, a production by Adam Shankman that features him sharing screen time with the iconic Arnold Schwarzenegger.

In 2023, Wilson’s final acting gig was the Haunted Mansion remake, and coming up next for him is a sports comedy television series titled Rambler & the Birdie Machine.
