For over two years now, Blizzard’s leading game Overwatch 2 has consistently evolved with regular seasonal upgrades. Although specifics about Season 15 are still scarce, some sneak peeks have emerged, such as new items for characters to wear and hints at a brand-new map. Here’s what we currently understand about the upcoming season.
A New Map Teased for Competitive Play
Unlike Season 14 that debuted the Tank hero Hazard, it seems like Season 15 won’t add a new character to the roster. Instead, Blizzard appears to be concentrating on enhancing the gameplay experience by introducing a fresh, new map.
Although an official announcement is yet to be made, players have discovered several hints suggesting the potential details of the upcoming map. One of the strongest indications comes from a new dialogue exchange between Lifeweaver and Orisa. In this conversation, Lifeweaver inquires if Orisa has visited “the arcology,” to which Orisa responds that her creator, Efi, had spoken at a conference held there before.
“There are multiple signs suggesting the Atlantic Arcology is mysterious. On the Midtown map, the Hyper-rail trains hint at a location underwater, potentially setting the stage for the upcoming map in Overwatch 2. If this theory holds true, it would be the first official underwater map designed by Blizzard to be included in competitive play.”
In the original text, “This isn’t the only hint” is a bit vague and could be rephrased to make it clearer that there are multiple signs indicating the mystery of the Atlantic Arcology. Additionally, I’ve added a slight rearrangement of the sentence structure in the final paragraph for clarity and easier reading flow.
The changeover to Season 15 is set for February 18, 2025, marking the close of Season 14. Following Blizzard’s regular pattern of seasonal updates, we anticipate the release of the update on this day.

Players can look forward to diving into new content immediately as the servers roll over.
Lunar New Year Event and Skins
Season 15 aligns with Overwatch 2’s long-awaited comeback in the Chinese market, after a prolonged absence due to publisher disagreements between Blizzard and NetEase. Now that they’ve resolved their differences, Chinese gamers can play the game again, and Blizzard is preparing special rewards to mark this joyous event.
Aaron Keller, the Game Director, hinted on Rednote, a popular Chinese social media site, about upcoming Lunar New Year themed skins and events. These unique items are being developed especially for Chinese players. Furthermore, these players will have an opportunity to acquire new Mythic-tier skins, along with older cosmetics that were previously limited to Battle Passes.
In the announcement for Overwatch 2’s Season 15, Aaron Keller revealed that the upcoming skin collection will be themed around Chinese mythology. It remains unclear if this theme is region-specific to China or if it also extends to other international Overwatch 2 servers.

The international Overwatch community eagerly anticipates a range of fresh cosmetics for the Lunar New Year event, although the particular heroes for the collection have yet to be disclosed. However, with the designs expected to be lively and fitting for the celebrations, there’s no doubt they’ll be festive!
What Else Can Players Expect?
Apart from the known facts, it’s quite probable that Blizzard has more surprises in store for Season 15. Anticipated adjustments to the balance, possible modifications to current characters, and improvements to user-friendly features are expected with the seasonal update. Keep a close watch as we get closer to the release date, as additional hints may be revealed.
Many players also wish to get 6v6 back as the main format of the game’s competitive scene.
In order for the game to continue, it should switch to a 6 vs 6 team setup because the current 5 vs 5 format doesn’t allow for a balanced tank. Each season, we seem to get stuck in an overpowering tank cycle.
I prefer not to play Marvel Rivals; could you please make some adjustments or improvements for Season 15, Blizzard?

With Overwatch 2 about to kick off its 15th season, anticipation is growing for what’s in store. From potential additions like the Atlantic Arcology map, special Lunar New Year cosmetics, and Blizzard’s return to the Chinese market, there’s a lot to get excited about. In fact, the new season will be here before you know it, as it’s set to start on February 18, which is only a few weeks away.
