Outlander Season 8 is likely to end just tying up Book 9's cliffhangers (Theory)

As a seasoned gamer of the Outlander saga, who has navigated through the labyrinthine time-traveling adventures and intricate relationships since the first episode aired, I must admit that I am both excited and apprehensive about the upcoming Season 8.

Despite my fervent wish for the final season of Outlander to delve into Jamie’s spectral encounter and Claire’s hair turning white, it appears that these storylines may not materialize due to the fact that Season 8 will serve as the conclusion, and the available time seems limited.

Judging from the recent photos of the Outlander set, it appears the narrative might resolve the cliffhanger left by Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone. Given the actors cast for the last season, this seems a plausible development.

Given the limited 10-episode structure, it’s challenging for the series to encompass both the ninth and tenth books. Moreover, as Book 10 is still being completed, there are only vague hints from Diana Gabaldon that the show can utilize. Since the TV series won’t reveal the book endings, this implies the show must develop its own conclusion.

Saving Lord John Grey in Outlander Season 8

One of the plot points hinted at in Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone through leaked images appears to involve Lord John Grey being captured and held against his will. In the novel, he is deceived into boarding a ship by Captain Richardson, who then keeps him as a hostage. William seeks assistance from Jamie in securing John’s release.

The ninth book marks its conclusion. Given that characters from this book are appearing in Outlander Season 8, it’s evident that a resolution to the story is necessary. Crafting such a resolution for the final episodes of the season seems feasible, as that appears to be when this will take place.

Captain Richardson and Amaranthus Grey storylines from Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone

It seems this development suggests a conclusion or resolution for Captain Richardson’s narrative arc in “Outlander.” Although he isn’t a significant antagonist as of now, his appearance in Season 7A hints at an interesting villainous role. In the novels, he aims to thwart the American victory during the Revolutionary War and harbors a mysterious secret, which adds depth to his character.

In the storyline of Amaranthus, as it has been confirmed that she’ll appear in Season 8 of Outlander, there are many unanswered questions about her intentions from the books. The series will likely provide resolutions to these queries since images leaked suggest she’s present in the last episodes. Will we eventually discover whether she was friend or foe throughout?

Outlander Season 7B will premiere on Friday, Nov. 22 on Starz.
