Outlander season 7, episode 9 has set the seeds for Roger being in the wrong time

As a seasoned Outlander fan who has journeyed through the mists of time alongside Claire and Jamie, I must say that the latest twist in the tale left me utterly flabbergasted! Season 7, episode 9 saw Roger and Buck stranded in 1739 instead of the expected 1778. The enigma of the ferryman has certainly piqued my curiosity.

In the conclusion of Outlander season 7A, Roger and Buck found themselves not in 1778 as expected, but rather transported to the year 1739 instead, as depicted in episode 9 of season 7.

Roger’s objective remains unaltered: he must locate his son, Jemmy. He is relentless in his pursuit and will go to great lengths to find him. However, certain complications have arisen, such as Buck’s heart issues. For the time being, Roger must put aside his search for Jemmy, but not for too long.

Many people are wondering why Roger and Buck aren’t present as they were supposed to be. The reason behind Robert Cameron taking Jemmy to another time is hinted at in Outlander Season 7, Episode 9.

Who is the ferryman in Outlander season 7, episode 9?

Brian Fraser escorted Roger to meet Mr. Murray’s dad, which initiated a discussion about a peculiar boatman. It turned out that the boatman wore unusual attire, subtly suggesting to Brian, Roger, and us that he was from a different era.

It’s possible that Jemmy didn’t travel with the boatman (Rob), which leaves room for speculation: either Jemmy did not make it across the stones with Rob, and now Rob is puzzling over what might have happened to him, or perhaps Jemmy managed to escape from Rob and is currently lost. Additionally, it’s conceivable that the boatman in question isn’t Rob Cameron at all.

It’s quite plausible that Roger assumes Rob is the person being discussed, given his knowledge and circumstances. However, what if he’s mistaken? Could there be another individual involved instead?

In the Outlander season 7B trailer, it’s hinted that there’s a relationship between the ferryman and Roger. Specifically, we see a scene where a man on a horse is riding alongside Roger and Buck.

For Jemmy, Roger seems to believe he’s living in the year 1739, yet his presence there serves a unique and nonetheless significant purpose.
