Outlander marks one step closer to the end with final table read

As a die-hard Outlander fan, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions as Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe reach yet another monumental milestone – the final table read for Season 8. Table reads are not just about lines; they’re about camaraderie, shared history, and the collective heartbeat of a story that has captivated us all.

The finale is approaching, and it appears we’re unprepared for its arrival. Starring in Outlander, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe reached another significant moment as we near the last season. This occasion revolves around their final script reading.

Reading through the script during production is a crucial step. It provides an opportunity for the actors to rehearse their lines collectively. Additionally, someone often reads out the scene descriptions, particularly when there are intricate or detailed action sequences involved.

Sometimes, actors are given only their own dialogues to memorize and deliberately skip over details about other characters, such as what happened with Kit Harington in the final episode of “Game of Thrones” when he found out Jon Snow would kill Daenerys Targaryen. On other occasions, the cast members receive and read the entire scripts they’ve been given.

Final table read of Outlander

At present, the cast is nearing the conclusion of filming Season 8 of Outlander. They’ve advanced so far that they’re participating in the final script reading session. Sam Heughan posted a picture of himself and his fellow actor Caitriona Balfe during this reading, indicating it’s for the final segment. You might recall that Outlander typically films episodes in blocks – usually two episodes at once. Given this, the script reading likely signifies the last two episodes of the show are being prepared.

In her Instagram post, Balfe revealed that the series will conclude after 101 episodes, a significant milestone in today’s production environment. She also highlighted that this journey has spanned over a decade. Although the series celebrated its 10th anniversary this year, it was actually a year prior to the premiere when Balfe and Heughan first read the script together for the first time.

From the pictures, it’s clear that the table reading occurred within a stunning castle setting. Actress Sophie Skelton, known for her role as Brianna Fraser, posted a photo of herself outside Barnbougle Castle in Scotland. This implies that this could be the location where the table read took place.

The journey definitely concludes with the arrival of Outlander Season 7B towards the end of 2024, but fortunately, we won’t have to bid farewell just yet as Season 8 is slated for release no sooner than the end of 2025; it’s more probable that we’ll witness it in 2026.
