The long-awaited final episode of Outer Banks Season 4 has arrived, leaving fans reeling from its unexpected conclusion. A month following the debut of Part 1 of Season 4, Part 2 wraps up the storyline, laying the groundwork for the series’ ultimate finale. As the Pogues engage in a fierce struggle against Dalia and her mercenaries, multiple key characters are embroiled in a fight for their lives. Among them is JJ, portrayed by Rudy Pankow, who finds himself facing death. A shocking turn of events near the end of the finale has viewers speculating whether the unpredictable yet compassionate adventurer has met his demise. Therefore, we’re left wondering: what became of JJ in the Season 4 finale, and did he truly meet his end?
Here are all the available details regarding the fate of Pankow’s character.
Does JJ die at the end of Outer Banks Season 4 Part 2?
Regrettably, by the finale of Outer Banks’ fourth season, it is revealed that JJ meets his untimely demise at the hands of character Groff.
After a fierce conflict between the Pogues and Dalia, all major characters narrowly escaped the fight. This resilient band of heroes also secured the elusive Blue Crown, leading viewers to anticipate a joyful conclusion for Season 4.
As Episode 10 nears its end, the Pogues are confronted by their past when Groff reappears. Earlier in the episode, there was a fierce confrontation between JJ and the gang, along with Groff, which resulted in them abandoning Groff, believing him to be dead, in a well. However, against all odds, Groff finds a way out of his imprisonment and returns to pursue the Pogues.
In an unexpected move, Groff manages to grab Kiara and holds her hostage with a knife. He then threatens the Pogues, demanding they surrender the crown in exchange for their friend’s life. As fate would have it, JJ yields and hands over the crown, sacrificing it to save the woman he loves. However, even after obtaining what he wanted, Groff remains vengeful, stabbing JJ in the stomach.
In a surprising twist, Rudy Pankow’s character JJ falls to the ground and bleeds heavily, leading many viewers to believe it was yet another close call with death for the Pogues. However, the creators surprise us by permanently writing off JJ. As he takes his final breath in Kiara’s arms, he declares his love for her once more. The episode ends with the Pogues mourning their lost friend and swearing vengeance against the one who caused him harm.
