As a seasoned gamer and binge-watcher of countless series, let me tell you that the return of Outer Banks has been long overdue! The moment I heard about part 1 of season 4 hitting Netflix on Oct. 10, I marked my calendar and cleared my schedule.
Hi again, Pogues! If you’ve been yearning for another dose of Outer Banks since its last season premiered in February 2023, then get ready to dive back into the series as all five episodes of season 4 part 1 will be available on Netflix starting October 10. This time around, John B and his companions find themselves entangled once more in the “G game” due to a financial predicament that leaves them needing some quick cash.
Here’s their next thrilling journey as they pursue Blackbeard’s hidden treasure. As is customary for them, the Pogues will encounter peril and formidable adversaries at every turn. However, is the upcoming season’s action any bloodier than before? Let’s take a careful, spoiler-free peek into what to expect regarding the action, dialogue, intensity, and other elements!
Outer Banks is rated TV-MA for language and violence
On Netflix’s official page for the show “Outer Banks”, it is rated TV-MA (mature audiences only). This means the content might not be suitable for young viewers due to its use of strong language and violent scenes, as indicated by these factors.
To get a sneak peek at the upcoming events in Outer Banks season 4 part 1, we’re providing a spoiler-free summary of the key maturity ratings. Below you’ll find information on content and possible warnings for sensitive topics to help you prepare before watching. Enjoy!
Sex and nudity
In the first half of Outer Banks Season 4, you won’t find any explicit sex scenes, but some relationships may be developing behind closed doors, hinted at through certain scenes where only kissing is depicted. Regarding nudity, there are no graphic or explicit scenes; however, male characters are shown shirtless and female characters wear revealing swimsuits. In a single scene, a brief moment of a woman’s bottom is visible, but she is wearing a bikini.
Language and violence
In essence, the language in the series remains somewhat exaggerated, with occasional profanities scattered throughout. However, it’s important to note that these instances are not excessive or extreme. Keep in mind to monitor viewing for young audiences due to adult content. Regarding the violence in the early episodes of season 4, there is a slight decrease compared to previous seasons; however, violence remains a recurring theme in episodes 1 through 5.
In a motocross competition, an accident occurs without causing any harm, but it might still make your heart race. Interestingly, there are no actual fights in these scenes, yet there are intense physical confrontations scattered throughout part 1. Additionally, there are incidents of knife and gun use, and one character meets their end due to a gunshot. Be warned, episode 3 may be particularly challenging for those who fear deep-sea diving!
Drugs and drinking
In typical fashion, The Pogues often indulge in underage parties with alcohol, particularly beer, within their home setting. While not every drinking scene is underage (presumably, Rafe has grown older), there are numerous instances of this behavior depicted. It’s suggested that the characters partake in marijuana use, and a fleeting moment hints at Sarah possessing a joint, though she doesn’t appear to smoke it.
Content and trigger warnings
In episode 5, two characters descend into an underground passage, only to find themselves stuck behind a locked door, their sole escape route being a closed crypt. This situation might cause quite a sense of anxiety for those suffering from claustrophobia. As they explore the tunnel, they’re overrun by swarms of rats. Audience members who have arachnophobia (fear of rats), should brace themselves for plenty of squeaking and numerous rats scurrying across the screen!
