As a gaming enthusiast diving into the cinematic world, when I caught wind of “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood 2,” my mind was instantly intrigued by the concept. Yet, to be completely honest, I was taken aback when I learned that Quentin Tarantino gave his seal of approval for it.
What did Steven Soderbergh say about Once Upon a Time in Hollywood 2?
According to an interview with Business Insider, Soderbergh acknowledged that the bond between David Fincher and Brad Pitt was instrumental in bringing about the production of the sequel.
He wasn’t surprised when Once Upon a Time in Hollywood 2 was greenlit, Soderbergh explained. “Brad had a hand in it because they often look for opportunities to collaborate. It appears that Quentin didn’t want to do it, but Brad showed it to David anyway, who then agreed to take on the project. This isn’t surprising at all.
What Soderbergh can’t grasp is why Tarantino allowed it to happen.
“What’s surprising is Quentin’s agreeability,” Soderbergh added.
Due to Soderbergh’s close relationship with Fincher, he became aware that plans for a film centered around Cliff Booth were being discussed. Soderbergh anticipates that the sequel’s production will progress at a swift pace.
Soderbergh stated that he was both conscious and well-informed about this being significant news, and he was even taken aback that it had not been reported earlier. However, now that it’s unfolding, it’s happening swiftly.
Netflix will have Quentin Tarantino’s Cliff Booth film directed by David Fincher, with Brad Pitt set to reprise his Academy Award-winning character. In a unique move, Pitt was given permission by Tarantino to bring on Fincher as the director for this project.
Instead of being a straight continuation from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the upcoming movie will focus on Booth’s journeys through 1977 LA, approximately eight years after Quentin Tarantino’s film.
The Fincher-Pitt project by Netflix hasn’t specified a launch date yet, but it’s anticipated that filming will start this coming summer.
