What do we know about Sallywood?
The story follows Zack (Tyler Steelman), a young screenwriter from rural Maine with a long-standing admiration for Sally Kirkland’s Golden Globe-winning role in Anna. Driven by this admiration, he embarks on a journey to Hollywood. Remarkably, only days after his arrival in LA, he crosses paths with Sally Kirkland herself. In an unexpected turn of events, she impulsively hires him as her assistant. Upon realizing that Sally’s career has hit a low point, Zack decides to help her make a comeback and return to the glamour of the red carpet.
As a fan, I’m thrilled to be part of the ensemble in Sallywood alongside an impressive cast. Here I am, rubbing shoulders with Jennifer Tilly from Bride of Chucky, Eric Roberts who graced The Dark Knight, Keith Carradine known for his role in Dexter, Maria Conchita Alonso starring in The Running Man, Michael Lerner famous for Barton Fink, Kay Lenz from House, Lenny Von Dohlen of Twin Peaks fame, and Tom Connolly recognized for Lost. What a dream come true!
On Sallywood, Steven J. Wolfe functions as a producer, while Matthew Helderman, Luke Taylor, and Nikki Stier Justice from Buffalo 8 serve as executive producers. The global distribution rights for the movie were acquired by Buffalo 8, following negotiations led by Glen Reynolds and Justice from Circus Road Films. So far, this film has amassed more than 46 awards on the festival circuit.
The person in charge at Buffalo 8’s distribution department stated, “Sallywood is an amusing and emotional movie that connects different age groups. It’s centered around an exceptional portrayal by Sally Kirkland of herself. It can be seen as a tribute to pursuing dreams – whether you’re just starting or returning.
A release date for Sallywood has not yet been announced by Buffalo 8.
