As a seasoned gamer who remembers the days of dial-up internet and floppy disks, I must say I’m both intrigued and skeptical about this news. The Oregon Trail, a game that was as much a part of my childhood as a Nintendo controller, is being transformed into a movie. I can’t help but wonder if they’ll manage to capture the gritty reality of pioneer life in the 19th century while still maintaining the fun and charm that made the game so popular.

A new video game-inspired film is looking towards the 1970s for its roots, with Apple TV producing a movie based on The Oregon Trail. This upcoming production will be helmed by the creative minds behind “Blades of Glory” and “Office Christmas Party.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Apple TV is working on an adaptation of the classic game Oregon Trail, which is in the initial stages of development. The script for this project is being penned by The Lucas Bros. and Max Reisman, with Will Speck and Josh Gordon set to direct. This same creative team previously collaborated on the family film Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile.
